Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 006 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.303(b)(6): Conductors or equipment located in damp or wet locations; where exposed to gases, fumes, vapors, liquids, or other agents that had a deteriorating effect on the conductors or equipment; or where exposed to excessive temperatures: a. The employer had installed a rectangular electrical wiring box at the bottom of the electrical meter with the meter loop on the east side of the mechanical shop which was exposed to corrosive atmospheric conditions such as but not limited to high humidity, salty atmosphere and torential rains. This rectangular electrical wiring box served as an electrical wiring trough with live electrical conductors of 110 volts and 220 volts and was rusted through at the bottom. b. A General Electric disconnect box, was located adjacent to he electrical meter. The small lip at the bottom of the cover was completely eaten away by corrosion which did not permit a lock to be placed in order to prevent entry by unauthorized personnel into the live 200 Amp, 240 volt electrical box.
