North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by maneuvering trucks/trailers while the employees were walking/working in the same area servicing other trailers: a)facility (116 Terrell St, Greensboro) - employees were exposed to being struck by maneuvering trucks/trailers while the employees were walking/working in the same area servicing other trailers, prior to and on July 26, 2012; an employee was struck and killed on July 26, 2012. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard and to prevent the recurrence of such hazards is to prohibit the vehicle from being backed up unless an observer signals that it is safe to do so.
