Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that there were no procedures or instructions for assuring loads that were being unloaded from a flatbed trailer remained secured on the flatbed until employees attached the rigging from the gin truck and were ready to unloaded from the flatbed trailer: On or about March 3, 2012, at the Pistol Drilling equipment yard,The employer had not developed procedures or instructions on how to receive and control incoming trucks with equipment. Employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by or crush by equipment falling off the flatbeds. Feasible abatement methods for this violation include, but may not be limited to, developing procedures and training employees on the unloading of flatbed trucks.
