Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the rated load was not marked on structural/mechanical lifting devices. (a)Employees were exposed to struck by/crushing hazards while working with and around the Zenar 6 Ton overhead gantry crane and the employer did not ensure that the rate load was marked on the structural lifting device (galvanizing rack). Among other methods, feasible means of abatement by which the hazard may be corrected are as followed: 1.Establish compliance with ANSI/ASME B30.20 - 2010, "American Society of Mechanical Engineers - Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices." 2.Determine the rated load for the galvanizing racks and mark the rated load on the racks. Certification, and documentation/evidence of abatement is required. Certification of abatement is required by 29 CFR Part 1903 and is to be submitted within ten (10) calendar days after the abatement date.ment
