Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to caught between and entanglement hazards: (a) Location - Yard: On or about 8/30/10, the employer failed to provide adequate emergency stop devices along hazardous locations of an inclined belt conveyor. Among other methods, a feasible means to eliminate or reduce this hazard is to provide emergency trip wires to all locations where an employee may be subject to hazards associated with moving parts including areas where metal splinters have projected themselves through conveyor belts. Install trip wires in accordance with ASME B20.1- 2000 "Safety Standard for Conveyors and Related Equipment" sections 5.9.1.1, 5.11.2(c) and 5.11.2(c)(1).
