Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard(s) of crushed-by and struck-by: a)Frame shop area, on or about and at times prior to August 9, 2011, the employer did not ensure close proximity lifting hooks were rated, tested, inspected, or approved for their use, which exposed employees to crushing and struck-by hazards. Among other methods, feasible and acceptable methods to correct each of these hazards are to: 1.Rate and mark the load capacity of all below-the-hook lifting devices on a tag/plate or equivalent in accordance with ASME B30.20. 2.Conduct frequent and periodic inspections of the lifting device in accordance with ASME B30.20 ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.TION
