Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazard: a.On or about July 14, 2010, an employee was replacing a flat tire using 12-ton Low Profile hydraulic bottle jacks and did not place the vehicle safely away from oncoming traffic. b.On or about July 14, 2010, an employee was replacing a flat tire using 12-ton Low Profile hydraulic bottle jacks and did not place the jacks on a level and hard surface, exposing himself to crushing hazards. One feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to enforce the use of placing the jacks on a level and hard surface and to position the vehile safely away from oncoming traffic. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION ARE NOT REQUIRED.TION
