Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm due to struck by a discharged round: At the worksite: On or about October 24, 2009, and at times prior thereto, the employer allowed an employee to handle a firearm without insuring it was unloaded and the safety in the safe position. Employees were exposed to the type of hazards associated with the accidental discharge of the firearm. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to assure the adherence to the Firearms Safety & Familiarization Course guidelines.
