Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: On or about September 23, 2009, and prior thereto, at the worksite located at 951 Fox Chase Drive, Greers Ferry, AR, for the protection of employees working with Norco brand 12-ton hydraulic bottle jacks, Model #76512, the employer failed to ensure that employees were trained on the jacks' inspection, maintenance, cautions to personnel, effects of environment, and operating practices, as required by ASME B30.1-2009, Section 1-2.7.2. Employees were exposed to crushed-by/or and struck-by hazards. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to develop and implement a training program which meets the requirements of ASME B30.1-2009, Section 1-2.7.2.
