Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being crushed: a.On or about June 2, 2008, at 1000 George Douthit Drive SW, Jacksonville, AL, a Dynapac CA 151 vibration roller compactor was operated on a 30-degree grade and was subjected to turn over. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is: Drive slowly when turning corners. Avoid side hill travel. Operate up and down the slope. Ensure that at least two thirds of the drum width rest on the already compacted ground when driving close to edges or holes. Use special caution when operating on rough or uneven ground. Always maintain a speed consistent with working conditions.
