Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employee(s) in that employees were exposed to a caught-in/struck-by hazard when they were disconnecting a platform trailer, with an unequally distributed load, from a tow vehicle, on or about Sep.28, 2007. Location: 15720 Commonwealth Ave. in Polk City, FL. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to establish and implement procedures to safely disconnect, and connect, platform trailers being towed by towing vehicles such as but not limited to "dump" trucks.
