Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Adobe Drilling Services, LLC., Rawhide Rig, Dorcus 1906, Upton County, 30 Miles South of Odessa, Odessa, Texas. For the period of time up to and including July 14, 2007, employees were exposed to caught by hazards while being raised and lowered by an air hoist. One employee was fatally injured when the lanyard attached to the safety harness wrapped around the kelly. American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practice 54, August 1999 states in Paragraph 6.8.5 "No personnel shall clean, lubricate, or repair any machinery where there is a hazard of contact with moving parts until such machinery has been stopped or such parts have been properly guarded." "Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19(d_, the employer must provide documentation that this violation has been abated within 10 calendar days after the abatement date".
