Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing and ejection hazards. (a) Throughout the facility: The employer failed to retrofit the Large Industrial Rider Scrubber, Model #7400, Serial #7400-3957, used for cleaning the floors, with a seatbelt. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable methods of abatement to correct this hazard is to have the Industrial Rider Scrubber retrofitted with a seatbelt and enforce the wearing of the seatbelt when the scrubber is being used.
