Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards and/or crushing hazards due to side loading an aerial work platform (scissors lift): (a) Warehouse, 300 North Pike Road, Cabot, PA: On or about October 4, 2006, an employee, while removing conduit from overhead wiring, fell approximately twelve feet. The MEC Aerial National Standards Institute ANSI/SIA A92.6 "Self-Propelled Elevating Work Platforms" and ensure that the Mayville Engineering Company (MEC), Model 1932ES/1532ES, "General Rules" and the MEC, "Operation, Safety & Maintenance Manual" (May 2005 or the most current edition) is read and understood by all employees prior to the operation of a MEC Aerial Work Platform.
