Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to potential crushing hazards from falling loads and/or lift parts: (a) Service bay area, 1316 Cambell Street, Rapid City, SD, for the employees who were exposed to potential crushing hazards while using a Worth auto lift that did not have periodic or routine preventative maintenance checks and inspections. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to follow the requirements of ANSI/ALI ALOIM 2000, which include, among other requirements: 1. Schedule and complete periodic and annual inspections. 2. Perform weekly and monthly maintenance inspections.
