North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were subjected to fall and struck by hazards: a)jobsite, on or about 06/20/06, for the employees installing a 72 foot wide wood roof truss system an appropriate temporary bracing system was not provided to prevent the 508 lb trusses from collapsing. Several employees were injured when the trusses collapsed. Among other methods, one feasible method to correct this hazard would to be follow the recommendations of the Wood Truss Council of America and Truss Plate Institute's recommendations to consult a Professional Engineer prior to installing temporary bracing for trusses that are 60 feet or longer.
