Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by shuttle carts: a)struck by hazards - ramp area, employees operating E-Z-GO six-passenger shuttle carts were not trained as to the proper operation of the shuttle carts. NOTE:Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate the hazard would be to develop and implement a training program including elements recommended by the American National Standards Institute 56.8-1993, Section 5.2, Personnel and Burden Carrier Operators' Training, and the E-Z-Go Owners Manual, regarding operator training.
