Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about 11/28/06, an employee of Son-Tex Rat Hole Service was not protected from the hazard of being struck by materials being loaded on a trailer. The employer did not assure that there was an established Safe work practice in place to protect employees from struck by falling material while loading pipe onto a trailer. Among other methods, one of the following may be useful to abate the hazard: 1. Provide means to prevent the pipe from rolling off the trailer like side boards or stakes or; 2. Where necessary, have additional personnel involved to stabilize the load as it is landed on the trailer. ***CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT REQUIRED***
