Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of contact with live parts: a.Site - The plug for the yellow extension cord in the main barn was damaged, exposing live parts. b.Site - Neither a ground fault circuit interrupter nor an assured equipment grounding program were used to protect employees from live parts and possible electrical faults. ABATEMENT NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable means of abatement would be to repair all electrical faults in equipment and use Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters on all temporary electrical systems.
