Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: DUST&FUMES
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a combustible metal dust explosion: a) Aerospace Building B Non V Side - On or about August 29, 2007 the employer did not provide explosion venting for the building or building area where combustible metal powders or dusts were present. No documented risk evaluation hazard analysis was completed to demonstrate explosion venting was not required. The employer did not complete the same type of documented risk evaluation to determine a level of explosion protection to be provided for the dust collection system.
