Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not provide employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards which were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to the hazard of serious crushing injuries: a)On or about July 27, 2006, the Century 3212 Tow Apparatus was operated outside of the manufacturer's specifications for the underlift during the lifting and towing of an Orion RTD bus (RTD 2252X, Colorado License Plate 536-MCP). Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazardous condition would be to ensure employees are adequately trained and follow the specifications listed in the Owner's Manual prior to lifting or towing operations.
