Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Drilling Rig #18: The choke manifold controlling the flare line was left in the closed position during tripping allowing gas, water and fire to escape into the derrick, exposing employees to the hazard of fire/explosion on or about January 22, 2005. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THE HAZARD IS : To comply with the companies operating procedures concerning steps to take while tripping in procedures are being conducted on gas/oil wells. And the recommended procedures in the API for oil and gas wells drilling and servicing number 54, third addition, dated August 1999
