Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards during the period of time that the employer failed to restrict employees either from starting or operating, any of it functions or attachments, from any place other than from the designated operator's position as specified in ASME B56.56-2002 Safety Standard FOR ROUGH TERRAIN FORKLIFT TRUCKS at Section 6.2.2: (a) Shop and production yard: On or before December 14, 2006, and at times prior to, employees were exposed to crushing and/or struck by hazards, while starting the Clark Rough Terrain forklift truck. Among other methods, one feasible acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to follow the recommendations outlined in ASME B56.6-2002 regarding designated operating positions.
