Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: Company: Employees were not adequately protected from crushing hazards created by the overhead guard on forktrucks in that: 1.The green Mitsubishi forktruck, serial number F 20-80185, was not provided with a seat- belt. 2.Employee(s) operating the white Yale forktruck, serial number 472201 did not wear the seatbelt provided. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to: Ensure that all powered industrial trucks used by employees at the East and West Cargo ramps are provided with seatbelts. Include seat belt use in the training program and enforce the use of seatbelts at all times during operation.
