Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards associated with: the moving of the aerial trolley without adequate communications. Location: Job site. An employee was fataly injured when his neck became caught between the safety chain on the aerial trolley and the power line spreader, when the trolley was being pulled by a tracked vehicle 300 feet away from the operator. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to provide adequate communications between the employee in the trolley and the operator of the pulling vehicle.
