North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees conditions of employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to fall and/or struck-by hazards: a)jobsite, carriage house, on 05/07/2003, employees were working on and inside wood trusses that had been improperly braced with a single set of spacer bracing, per side, attached laterally, one truss to the next, exposing employees to fall and/or struck-by hazards as the roof truss system collapsed. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to follow the recommendations of the Truss Plate Institute HIB-91 for Bracing Wood Trusses.
