Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the following conditions: a)On the rigging platform, Grey Wolf Rig #34, employees who were hoisting steel casing were not protected from the hazard(s) of being struck by. One feasible and acceptable abatement method, among others, to correct the this hazard is: To ensure implementation of the elements listed in: American Petroleum Institute, Recommended Practice, 54-Third Edition, August 1999,(API RP 54-99) Section 9, Sub-Section,9.7, paragraph 9.7.3, "The hoisting hook shall be equipped with a safety latch or other equivalent device to prevent accidental release of the load being hoisted or lowered". *** Certification and Documentation of Abatement Required ***
