Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: ***Certification AND Documentation of Abatement Required*** The increased possibility of having any employee who is on the load while in the motion of being hoisted, lifted, lowering or traveling, to fall or slip from the load or cause the load to become unbalanced and thereby causing the employee to fall. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazards is to comply with the reuirements specify by the American National Standard Institute (ANSI) standard(s): B30.11 Monorail Systems and Underhung Cranes. Section B30.11-3.2.3e: The operator shall not hoist, lower or travel while anyone is on the load or hook. Disclaimers: You are not limited to the abatement methods described above.
