Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: a) Building "D" Area; Employer did not perform any test on the slope area when the employees were operating the Genie Aerial Lift, model S-65, serial number 475260, exposing employees to the hazard of falling from the lift. The slope was measured at 11.42 degrees. On page 3 of the Operators Manual, the safety rules stated do not drive the machine on or near uneven terrain, unstable surfaces or other hazardous conditions with the boom raised or extended. According to ANSI 92.2-1969, For vehicle-mounted elevating and rotating work platforms, 3.1.6 STABILITY ON SLOPES. No stability test was conducted by the Employer. Feasible Abatement: Have procedures in place to ensure that lifts are not to be worked on slopes or uneven terrain without adequate safeguards.
