Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to drowning: a) Childs Street Salvage Pier - A 1990 Geo Prism sedan became seperated from a tow vehicle when the tow strap connecting the two fell off the undercarriage of the sedan, on or about 05/03/2003. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to establish and enforce: the use of a positive latching device on the tow strap's hook in addition to using safety chains as a secondary means of insuring that the vehicle in tow does not become separated from the tow vehicle.
