Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to permit employees to ride on the refuse truck only when standing on the riding steps, while the truck is traveling forward at less than 10 miles per hour for a distance not to exceed 0.2 miles. Develop and implement a comprehensive safety training program using manufacturer's recommendations and American National Standard, ANSI Z 245.1 1992, Safety Requirements for Mobile Refuse Collection and Compaction Equipment. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
