Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a vehicle crash hazard: At this well workover site, the employer did not ensure that workover rig haulers were kept in safe working order such as a driver cab windshield and windows free of obvious defects. Cracked windows could obstruct the driver's view of personnel and property during hauling and vehicle positioning on site. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to establish and enforce safe practices discussed under the Association of Energy Service Companies' (AESC) Recommended Safe Procedures and Guidelines for Oil and Gas Well Servicing (January 1997). Section VIII, Rig Safety Inspection.
