Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees working underneath mobile homes during the set up process are exposed to the hazard of being crushed by the home if it shifts and falls. (a)An employee was fatality injured when the mobile home under which he was working fell. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to follow the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission Code 535-X-13-.06 (3): " A 2"X8"X16" treated wood or hardwood plate or a concrete cap shall be placed on top of the pier to serve as a pier cap.
