Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of being struck by oncoming motor vehicle traffic: (a)Whitlock Avenue west of Dallas Circle - Shoulder on North side of the road: Employees of this employer were working in a construction site which was not established in accordance with the "Manual On Traffic Control Procedures For Utilities" adopted by the Ga. DOT on Feb. 21, 1994. The employer did not set out 3 warning signs at 500' intervals and did not set out 13 traffic cones as required on chart VI, page nine of above referenced manual. One feasible abatement method used by this industry is to follow the requirements set forth in the "Manual on Traffic control Procedures For Utilities" ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
