Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a), Annotated Code of Maryland: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)Date of Violation:On or about 06/27/99 Location:Boiler Room Equipment:Cleaver-Brooks, Model CB, Fire Tube Boilers #1, 2, & 3 Condition:Employees were exposed to explosion hazard from boilers that could explode due to low water condition not being detected by unmaintenanced and uninspected low water cut-off's. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the manufacturer's recommendation of conducting monthly visual inspections and necessary maintenance. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
