Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employer did not provide a auxiliary means (geronimo line) of escape prior to the first trip being made on the derrick. Emergency egress for employees required to work the racking board on the Lee C. Moore 87' derrick tower used at the Myer #4 drill site was not provided. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard would be to provide a geronimo line for employees required to work the racking board, as prescribe by the American Petroleum Institute, API RP 54, First Edition, January 1981, "Oil & Gas Well Drilling & Servicing Operations, Chapter 4, Para. 4.7.1. 29 CFR 1903.19(d)(1) requires certification and documentation that the abatement of the above violation is complete.
