Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck or pinned by the front end loaders. a) On or about 10/10/97, Throughout the Establishment Employees and operators were not provided training on safe operating procedures for front end loaders. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO: Develop and Implement a training program specifically addressing safe operating procedures for the front end loaders, as stipulated in the manufacturers operation/maintenence manual. The employer must ensure that these procedures are followed. WRITTEN ABATEMENT VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19.
