Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of tripping and falling onto and off of the moving conveyor. a) On or about 10/16/97, Belts 1, 3, 4 and the belt to the andella The employees walked on the moving conveyor belts, to push and move garbage. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO: 1) Enforce the ASME B20.1a-1993 section 5.12 (d) 2) Implement and develop a training program addressing safe operating procedures, including the location and operation of all stopping devices.The employer must ensure that these procedures are followed. WRITTEN ABATEMENT VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED PURSUANT TO 29 CFR 1903.19.
