Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the oscillating and rotating boat ride: Typhoon ride: the ride operator was not trained in accordance with the operator's fact sheet containing specific and general operating policies and procedures as well as any specific emergency shut down procedures as might be appropriate for this ride in accordance with American Society of Testing and Materials publication F770-88, Section 4. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to adopt a basic safety requirement, Safety Rule, simply stating that once a ride, any ride, has started in motion, the operator is not allowed to have any part of his or her body outside the designated operator's station until such a time as the ride has come to a complete stop. ***Certification and Documentation of Abatement Required***on
