Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to lacerating and/or crushing hazards due to a failure to provide a stable support base or fountation for the magnetic strip conveyor so that the conveyor would not topple when used in a manner in which it was intended. Amoung other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to provide under each foot of the conveyor blocking or cribbing with the length and width to completely support each foot and prevents shifting, toppling or excessive settlement.
