Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001A Hazard:
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 : the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Work Barge located to the north of the I-70 Bridge over the Mississippi River- Between the period of June 2011 to March 28, 2012, a Genie N80 boom lift was placed on a barge and used by employees without following all manufacturers' requirements for safe use. Feasible means of abatement include, but are not limited to: Adhering to the Genie N80 boom lift Operations Manual which states, Do not use the machine on a moving or mobile surface or vehicle. Following the requirements of ANSI/SIA A92.5-2006 for Boom-Elevated Work Platforms section 8.10 (21) Unusual Operating Support conditions which states, The aerial platform shall not be operated from a position on trucks, trailers, railway cars, floating vessels, scaffolds, or similar equipment unless the application is approved in writing by the manufacturer or a qualified person..
