Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 003A Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operatorand other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc. a. On or before March 14, 2012, in the south side of the facility at the oven section, at the start traction section, a guard was pulled back on the north side, exposing a roller, thereby exposing employees to a caught-in hazard. b. On or before March 14, 2012, in the south side of the facility at the oven section, at the start traction section, a guard was pulled back on the south side, exposing a roller, thereby exposing employees to a caught-in hazard. c. As of March 14, 2012 and before, in the south side of the facility, the C-flute Pre-heater tensioner was unguarded leaving a nip point exposed, thereby exposing employees to a caught-in hazard. d. As of March 14, 2012 and before, in the south side of the facility, the B-flute Pre-heater tensioner was unguarded leaving a nip point exposed, thereby exposing employees to a caught-in hazard.
