Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) Employee(s) were permitted to be on the mast of a wall servicing rig during the telescope raising of the mast exposing employee(s) to the hazards of falls in excess of 35 feet. Among other acceptable and feasible means to correct this hazard would be to prohibit employees from being on the mast until it is in the fully raised position and the latching dogs are engaged. The condition occurred on or about November 7, 1985, at well servicing rig #L1680, located at the Shell Goodhope Oil Field, Norco, Louisiana.
