Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to injuries from being struck by vehicle: a) Round Lake Sanitation Corporation operated a tractor and trailer at the Keystone Landfill, Dunmore, PA which had an obstructed view to the rear, exposing other employees to serious injury in that the vehicle did not have a reverse signal alarm or an observer signaling it was safe to operate the vehicle in reverse, December 28, 1993. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO INSTALL BACK UP
