Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck-by forklifts due to inadequate pedestrian control procedures. (a) At the Shipyard: On or about 12/1/2023, workers in the yard area were exposed to being struck-by operating forklifts due to the fact that they were allowed to walk and work in the area where the Marine Travelift Forklift, Model #M2800HS, Serial #1213-1218, was operating and the backup alarm was not audible above the sound of the forklift engine by pedestrian employees in the area.
