29 CFR 1917.123(a): Illumination in active work areas was not of an average minimum light intensity of 5 foot-candles: a. On or about 28 March 2023, at the marine terminal yard (patio), Luis Ayala Colon Marine Terminal, Puerto Nuevo Terminals, PR. Employees engaged in marine terminal operations were exposed to struck by and crushed by hazards. Inadequate illumination (< 5 fc) in the general area of the incident made it difficult for drivers to see and avoid obstacles, and, to see clearly traffic-safety signs. NOTE: Certification of abatement must be submitted for this citation item as required by 29 CFR 1903.19(c).
