29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1):The employer did not establish a program consisting of an energy control procedure, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performed any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative: The employer is failing to protect employees from struck-by, caught-in, and amputation hazards associated with sawmill activities. This was most recently documented on or about January 18, 2023, at the worksite located at 33643 MO-6 Brashear, Missouri 63533 where the employer has employees performing maintenance on equipment without having developed and implemented a program that ensures hazardous stored energy is isolated before work begins. Instances of exposure include but are not limited to: Instance 1: Sawyer entered the log carriage travel space when the vertical edger was still energized and running. Instance 2: Off bearer entered the log carriage travel space when the vertical edger was still energized and running.
