29 CFR 1910.242(b): Compressed air used for cleaning. Compressed air shall not be used for cleaning purposes except where reduced to less than 30 p.s.i. and then only with effective chip guarding and personal protective equipment. a) Signature Cabinetry located at 1285 Alum Creek Drive, COLUMBUS, OH 43209: On and preceding August 23, 2022, compressed air exceeding 30 pounds per square inch (p.s.i.) pressure was used for cleaning materials and the bodies/faces of personnel. A shop made straight pipe attachment which was powered by up to 124 p.s.i. was used to dust off materials, the body and face of personnel working within the polishing area did not have without relief vents/ports or chip guarding thereby exposing employees to hazards including but not limited to being struck by flying particles and air embolism.
