1910.242(a) General requirements. Each employer shall be responsible for the safe condition of tools and equipment used by employees, including tools and equipment which may be furnished by employees. a) Colorado Counter-Tops, Inc., 3556 Quentin Street, Aurora, CO 80011: On and before March 2, 2021, employees utilized manually operated suction cups to tilt granite slabs up from a horizontal position. On March 2, 2021, two employees attempted to use a single Zuos suction cup to tilt up a granite slab, measuring 70.5 inches by 35 inches with a 56.75 inches by 12 inches section removed, resting horizontally upon a CNC table. The single suction cup failed as one cup is not sufficient to maintain suction, causing the slab weighing approximately 210 pounds, to fall. This condition exposed an employee to crushing and amputation hazards.
