Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: a) On or about February 26, 2020, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that suitable facilities for flushing of the eyes were provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. Employees were exposed to eye injuries while handling used car batteries containing corrosive substances such as sulfuric acid. The shop does not have a suitable facility for quick flushing of the eyes. Abatement Note: Abatement certification is required for this item (see enclosed "Certification of Corrective Action Worksheet").
